This book appeared unexpectedly into my life, as many of the best things do. Annie Proulx is best known for the darkly comic The Shipping News and the bittersweet story of doomed love, Brokeback Mountain, but to overlook this book of short stories would be missing some of her finest work.


CLOSE RANGE: Wyoming Stories

Brimming with tales of fierce, gritty, dirty lives. Written with a paper sharp sparse prose which is just this side of poetry, this book is shocking, moving and compelling in equal measure. I couldn’t put it down.
